General chemical modification methods of rubber surface and application limitations: surface modification can reduce the surface microstructure, dense sealing property and wear resistance without affecting the function of rubber base material. The methods of surface modification include chemical modification and physical coating. The surface chemical modification methods include fluorination, bromination, iodization and sulfonation. The fluorination methods include Xef2 fluorination, plasma activated fluorination and ion implantation. The commercial application of external fluorination of rubber products with xenon difluoride crystal has been completed; the physical coating methods mainly include poly (p-phenylene dimethyl) film coating, lubricating film surface coating, polytetrafluoroethylene coating and other fluoride coating.
1. All kinds of chemical modification methods only improve the appearance of rubber. After treatment, the surface modification layer is easy to wear and has limited application time;
2. All kinds of modification methods can only be used as surface treatment agent, not as the advanced rubber induction function of formula induction.

Now we realize that the chemical surface modification technology is only a simple modification, and the durability of the modified rubber function is limited. As we all know, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) has excellent resistance to medium and atmospheric aging, has a wide range of applications, has good self-lubricating function, and the number of conflicts is very small. Coating it on the rubber surface can greatly reduce the appearance conflict factor of rubber products, and improve the wear resistance and medium resistance functions. But the appearance of polytetrafluoroethylene is low, so it is difficult to combine with other materials. The outstanding application of fluoroplastics in surface treatment is polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Because of its high chemical laziness, it can resist the corrosion of any industrial liquid such as fuel, oil and lubricant, and has high enough thermal stability. However, it is less to consider the use of fluoroplastic PTFE as wear-resistant material because of its cold fluidity. Wear stability is very low. The rubber treated by fluorocarbon coating can achieve the effect near PTFE. In addition to the appearance of the coating, it has high thermal stability and low hydrophobicity. The surface modified fluorocarbon coating has high surface activity, thermal stability, chemical stability, oil and water repellent properties. In addition, it does not contain any solid substances and does not change the mechanical tolerance. This is the main reason why the product can be used in the lubrication and sealing system of space orbital station.
